It’s Time to Detox. How? Do Yoga

Now a long cold Winter is behind us and Summer approaches (and the eating fest that is Christmas) it’s a great time to think about detoxing our bodies so we can feel lighter and happier this season.

The stress of everyday life can be toxic. Many people are in a constant state of stress and have no idea how to get out. Even low levels of this ongoing (chronic) stress flood the body with the stress hormones. This chronic stress can cause or exacerbate many serious health problems. For a start, there’s digestive issues and irritable bowel syndrome, which are common maladies.

Here Yoga steps in. It can improve your digestion, boost your strength and flexibility, and leave you feeling great. If you manage to work up a sweat, that’s going to help too. The deep diaphragmatic breathing we use in yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system so your body redirects its resources from flight or fight, to rest and digest.

We kick off our new Saturday 8.30am yoga with a four-week detox series. This mindful yoga flow with teacher Margarita Gallego will focus on detoxification and digestion. Get rid of toxins with this class that focuses on detoxifying practices, and learn different detoxification tips every week.
