Time spent fighting ageing is time lost celebrating it.

So Just Believe Fit founder Marisa Lawlor says: Don't fight a maturing body ... celebrate it. Read her take on getting older.

Movement has a multitude of benefits for the mature mover.

It can help:

  • Reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes and dementia
  • Increase cardiovascular capacity
  • Protect bone density
  • Build and maintain muscle mass
  • Keep joints working as best they can
  • Improve flexibility and range of motion
  • Reduce risk of falls
  • Support better sleep
  • Increase self-esteem and confidence
  • Make you feel happier!!

There are currently three classes that are specically focussed on the needs of Mature Movers:

  • Strength and Stability
  • Balance training
  • Barre Yoga Basics

And then we also include Yin Yoga which is held in the evening but also very well suited to the Mature Movers program.

We invite you to consult your doctor before beginning a new exercise program and always inform us of any pre-existing conditions that will affect your participation in classes.

Strength and Stability for Mature Movers

Bodies change and so should the way we look after them. Learn the correct strength, stability, and conditioning techniques to keep you fit and free-moving as your body matures. Build confidence in your body's unique abilities and take the next steps in your fitness journey.

Balance Training for Mature Movers

A class that will become both an anchor to stabilise and a bridge to balance out your week. Explore unique movements that cultivate better balance from the inside out. Together you will move through thoughtful movement sequences that combine stretch, strength and play to engage, and develop core stability, as well as keep you smiling and calm both in class, and into the rest of your day.
This class is open, and adapted to all levels of experience, and fitness.

Are you new to moving and need to feel your way forward slowly? This new class is simple in its structure and format and will help you build a strong foundation to achieving your fitness goals. The barre is used for support and to help deepen poses. Perfect for people who have knee and shoulder issues and find weight-bearing on the floor difficult. This class is a great introduction to classes at Just Believe Fit

Yin Yoga

YIN YOGA is a slow-moving form of yoga. Poses (mostly floor-based) are held for an extended period of time, to allow the connective tissues to stretch, and the body and mind to completely unwind. Each class includes simple meditation and relaxation techniques. Yin Yoga is also great for the joints, ligaments and tendons, as well as the fascia.
